First of all, thank you both for your kind words on our Presidency and may I first say that on behalf of Greece, as I had indicated from the very beginning, I was one of the 26 who voted for Jean-Claude Juncker.

Greece has being among the first countries supporting Jean – Claude Juncker’s candidacy for the Presidency of the European Commission.

In fact, my party, Nea Demokratia, has provided one of the two signatures proposing his candidacy.

I am optimistic about the final outcome and I am also optimistic that his appointment will solidify, will enhance the European orientation towards more growth. And more growth is absolutely necessary for the problem of unemployment in Europe and especially in my country.
